Our chosen charity, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, has named us one of their ‘100 Heroes’ for 2021 due to our fundraising over the last year.
Across 2020/21, we raised an impressive £6,525 for the charity – a brilliant achievement, which is thanks to our colleagues' fundraising efforts and support.
Due to lockdown restrictions, fundraising hasn’t been easy this year but colleagues have been creative. We’ve seen:
- Colleagues take on a virtual walking challenge as a team, like our Development team's Winter Walkers, who clocked up a whopping 3,870,113 steps to raise £1,160
- Mike Blenkinsop, a member of our Operations Committee, cycled 100 miles to raise £1000
- 655 colleagues took part in our Colleague Engagement Survey, which we donated £1 for every survey completed
We then matched this fundraising to help raise even more money for the charity.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital will be commemorating our fundraising success with a special red balloon, which will be displayed at the front of their hospital for visitors to see over the next 12 months. They’ll also be hosting a virtual ‘thank you’ event to all their 100 Heroes on Sunday 23 May.
As we were unable to maximise our fundraising during the pandemic, colleagues chose to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital for a second year, so we could make even more of a positive impact to the children and families they care for.
We’re delighted to be continuing our support and look forward to raising more funds for this worthwhile cause.
