The developments on Aviation Lane and Fivelands Road will bring 192 high quality, affordable homes to the area and are being built in partnership with Partner Construction and Tricas.
Joining Ms Griffiths on the day was Joe Reeves, Executive Director of Finance and Growth at Midland Heart, and representatives from developers, Partner Construction and Tricas.
Laura Colson, Head Of Midlands Region, Partner Construction, said: “Burton-upon-Trent is a thriving market town that is growing and needs new good quality housing to meet demand. We are delighted to be supporting Midland Heart in the delivery of this important local project. This scheme will deliver much needed, high-quality housing for local people, resulting in an exciting contemporary new-build scheme that residents will be proud to call home.”
“We have forged a strong partnership with Midland Heart and have a shared understanding of the importance of creating quality homes and enhancing local communities. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the communities in which we build, we are contributing £500,000 towards primary and secondary education, circa £100,000 for local health provision, as well as monies for highways and travel plans”.
Graham Hopewell, contracts manager at Tricas Construction, said: “We were delighted to welcome Kate Griffiths MP to the Fivelands Road site and show the construction of as many as 64 affordable rent and shared ownership homes, vital for the people of Burton-on-Trent.
“Tricas are at the forefront of innovative housing construction and the delivery of important projects like this, and these homes whilst also sustainable, are built to the latest environmental standards.”
Both developments will have a mix of shared ownership and affordable rent homes, with the first handovers due to take place in early 2022.
