Midlands housing provider wins coveted 2022 Energy Award

Midland Heart scooped the Energy Project of the Year (residential) award for their innovative work to build 12 new homes in Birmingham that meet the future homes standard.

The energy industry came together to celebrate the sector’s achievements, at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor, London on 29 June where awards were presented by comedian Milton Jones.

Midland Heart’s entry for ‘Project 80’ was praised by the expert judging panel, who are drawn from across the energy sector.

The Energy Awards Judging Panel 2022 said “Our judges went for the biggest impact with this very well considered and managed project whose social and energy impact in its sector could be hugely significant”

Chris Miller, Director of Development said “It has been a great couple of weeks for project 80, being recognised at a number of different awards. This is a testament to the innovation and collaboration that has gone into developing and building these homes. This is a fantastic achievement and blue print for the future of development in our sector.

This year saw the introduction of a face-to-face judging round, where finalists presented their entries directly to the judges.

With 19 categories rewarding different aspects of the industry, the awards, recognise the leading people, products, projects and services in the sector, from Net Zero Initiative to Energy Champion of the Year.

Andrew Gaved, Editor-in-chief of Emap’s H&V News and RAC magazines, who co-hosts the Energy Awards, said:

“This industry has gone through a turbulent time in the last year, but these awards show companies and individuals continuing to innovate, continuing to find ways to reduce energy and continuing to work hard for their customers, whether businesses or homeowners. This sector will be a key player in the journey to Net Zero so we are proud to honour its achievements.
